Forum Strategy is pleased to announce details of its fourth #MATLeaders policy roundtable, which will take place on 8th May 2019 at the Archbishops Palace in Southwell.
Forum’s previous roundtables have focused on issues ranging from trustee recruitment, Ofsted’s role in the oversight of MATs, and innovative approaches to achieving sustainability in academy trusts. These reports have received extensive coverage in the education media and have helped inform policy in areas such as Ofsted’s new approach to summary evaluations of MATs and new government investment in programmes for the training of academy trustees. You can read previous roundtable reports here: MAT Leaders Resources: Case Studies; Articles; Videos & Reports
This next roundtable will focus on the government’s new recruitment and retention strategy and the implications for multi-academy trusts. As key players in the schools’ system and being at the frontline of recruitment and retention, it is important that the voice of academy trust leaders is heard. Academy trusts will play an essential part in ensuring the government’s strategy is a success.
We will cover three key areas:
How academy trusts are already using their scale and partnerships to mitigate staff workload and to develop innovative approaches to providing flexible working? What can government learn and taken onboard from this?
How the proposed support for early years teachers – including the proposed mentoring schemes and curriculum – can build upon and align with, rather than conflict with or duplicate, those impactful strategies already being undertaken by multi-academy trusts?
How are those academy trusts that are succeeding in terms of recruitment and retention marketing their organisations, including engagement with graduates and career-changers? What lessons can be learned and practices adopted at a national level through the proposed ‘one stop shop windows’?
The session will take place from 9.30am – 12.30pm on Wednesday 8th May 2019 at the Archbishops Palace in Southwell. The roundtable event is exclusively for members of Forum Strategy’s #MATLeaders networks and places are very limited and offered on a first come first served basis.
