The East Midlands #TrustLeaders Network returns in 2019/20 for the fourth consecutive year. The network has developed a strong reputation amongst Trust CEOs, trustees and others for its cross-sector thinking, peer to peer learning, and cutting-edge materials and resources. The network is part of a wider national network of trust CEOs and leaders led by Forum Strategy.

About the network

This year’s network includes two places at the National #TrustLeaders conference on 26th September in Nottingham, as well as three regional networking events throughout the year. Membership also includes an individual subscription to Forum Strategy’s strategy and intelligence briefings for CEOs, the Forum Strategy funding and grants briefings, and the opportunity to access Forum’s regular policy roundtables.

The East Midlands network is one of six regional #TrustLeaders networks across the country. The network is committed to generating high quality cross-sector and peer to peer learning, with previous contributors including the College of Policing, NHS Improvement, the British Franchise Association, acclaimed business leaders, and CEOs from the NHS and charity sectors.

Who leads the network?

The network is delivered by Forum Strategy in partnership with Inspiring Leaders. Each session is hosted by an Inspiring Leaders Director (CEO of a high-performing Multi-Academy Trust) and chaired by Michael Pain, CEO of Forum Strategy and author of ‘Being The CEO’. Michael is also lead facilitator of the ‘Being The CEO’ programme and is a leading voice nationally on academy trust development, coaching a number of CEOs across the country.

What does this year’s network involve?

Session 1: National #TrustLeaders Conference, Nottingham, 26th September 2019 (All day). Academy Trusts at the heart of their communities. This event includes keynotes from Frank Norris, CEO of Co-op Academies; Marg Randles, CEO of Busy Bees Nurseries; Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchise Association; and Saeed Atcha MBE, social mobility commissioner. Session 2: 9th November 2019 (AM), Derby. Improvement Leadership – what we know about highly effective improvement and performance directors; how do CEOs prepare them, define their roles, and support and performance manage them?

Session 3: 5th March 2020 (AM), Leicester. Evaluating organisational performance both internally and externally – lessons from trusts and other sectors. (includes a review of Ofsted summary evaluations so far).

Session 4: 19th June 2020 (AM), Nottingham. Achieving organisational sustainability in an age of austerity – emerging high-impact strategies and lessons from leaders in other sectors.


What is the cost?

Membership costs £995 plus VAT.

Network members are invited to bring along one additional member of their senior leadership team or board to each session. As well as access to the network, CEO members will receive nine months’ individual subscription to Forum Strategy’s policy, strategy and research briefing, as well as its regular funding and grants briefings. Each trust also receives a complimentary copy of ‘Being The CEO’. Places are very limited. The deadline for booking is Friday 21st June.
